What's Up With You and Orange?

Those were almost the exact words a co-worker spoke to me when I walked into the office.  Until that point, I never realized that I have/wear a lot of orange things.  But as soon as he said it, my mind flashed back to at least 4 or 5 orange creations I had worn in the past 2 weeks.  Now after looking through my closet, I realize I may have an orange obsession.  Add stripes into that equation, too.  Normally, I would try to come up with something witty to type, but I'm guilty as charged.  So, I'll just resign myself to dressing like a dreamsicle.  Mmm, dreamsicle... (said like Homer Simpson).

Spice Girl

In keeping with the Pop Star theme from yesterday, I decided to channel the Spice Girls with this color palette.  (It's very reminiscent of my Mom's Sweet Potato Cake….yummm!)  If I could sing, dance or wear one of their costumes, I would definitely want to be a Spice Girl.  I mean c'mon, they had the coolest names!  Maybe I could be Spicy Spice, or Bloggy Spice, or more realistically Tired-Overworked-Underpaid-Uncoordinated Spice.  Yes, definitely that last one.

Oops, I Did it Again

No, I didn't play with your heart or get lost in the game - a la Britney.  But I did wear a complete Loft ensemble again.  JD and I were too busy to take pics at work, so the BF filled in as my photographer that night.  I can definitely tell these were done at the end of the day.  My makeup has expired, my smile is down to a mere 10 watts, and my eyes are half closed.  But hey, I give myself an A- for effort and maybe next time I'll get BF to dress as K. Fed and be my back-up dancer.

Checkmate!

Have you ever accidentally on purpose put an outfit together?  This one came together in stages.  Initially, I picked out the sweater dress thingy (thrifted for a mere $6), but I couldn't decide on whether to wear leggings or tights.  Theeennn, I couldn't decide on brown or black boots.  But given that I am always running late in the morning, I had to bust a move and make some quick decisions.  So I grabbed the first pair of leggings I touched, remembered these Hue Boot sox (that just happen to perfectly match the sweater), and put on the first pair of boots I came across.  Voila - my OOTD was born.  Take that Snooze button - you may make me late everyday, but my random clothing picks have your King cornered.  Check & mate!

Comfy Casual

I don't think I've posted any pictures of me wearing sneakers.  I actually have A LOT - in every color.  As I get older mature, I find myself not wearing sneaks quite as much, though.  I remember thinking (when I was in my early 20s) that I would always rock my Nikes or Adidas, no matter what.  But it seems my definition of casual has changed.  Now, my favorite outfit is a pair of skinnies, riding boots and a tunic.  But sometimes, like on this day, when my feet hurt from wearing heels and I'm just not feeling like putting in much effort, my kicks come in handy.  So without further ado, I bring you my, "I don't even care today, you're lucky I got dressed at all" look.

Unexcused

Dear Blogland Friends,
Please excuse Veronica's absence on Friday, January 20th.  She was busy planning a 5 y/o birthday party.  Besides the party, her outfit was so un-amazing that it was not picture worthy.  She will return to normal blogland activity tomorrow.  Please see pictorial evidence of said b'day par-tay below.

Sincerely,
Circa 1975

Friend Feature

JD informed me that she felt "blog-worthy" on the day that she wore this, so I got to play amateur photographer.  We had a ball hamming it up in the parking lot at work and doing goofy poses.  It was the perfect opportunity to take a break from work and go outside in the unseasonably warm weather.

I love the classic pieces she put together, allowing the pink woven shirt and platform loafers to be the focal points.  Hopefully, I can talk her into  being a subject more often.  Good job JD!

Happy Birthday!

Today, I have to make a departure from the usual narcissistic outfit posts and give my baby girl a Birthday shout out!  Today my lil Muffin turns 5!  I can't believe this little person has been around for 1,826 days - and each and every one has been awesome.  Sure, I've wanted to choke her out a few times, sure she asks wayyyy too many questions, but O.M.G. when she smiles at me and wraps her little arms around my neck all is forgiven.  She is my best work, greatest blessing, and the very beat of my heart.  So Happy Birthday Mommy's little princess.  Thank you for being everything I could hope for in a daughter.  ILY!

You betta work it girl!

Nautical

After looking at these pictures, I definitely think this outfit screams Nautical.  I don't know if it's the colors, or the stripes in the skirt, but I feel like I belonged on a ship.  Maybe this is a sign that the BF and I should quit being cheap and book the cruise we keep discussing?  Or maybe it's just because I bought the skirt at Nautica over the Holidays, and hey, Nautical is what Nautica is all about, right?

Playing Around

A little while ago, I created this post about my new camera.  I'm still learning how to use it, so JD, my mother and I have been playing around with the zoom and poses.  I think we are all determined not to take a class or actually read the manual.  So my friends, you become my visual guinea pigs.  I'm also contemplating some kind of photo editing software.  The iPhoto app on my Mac is a little limiting.  But I finally branched out and tried some effects.  Not too much, I don't want to go all wild and crazy at once.  Wouldn't want my huge list of followers to get the vapors, now would we?

Leopard Love

This weather continues to freak me out.  I mean, Old Man Winter where are you?  One day is mildly chilly and I'm like, "Yeah, coat day!" Then the next day it's all sunny and warm and I'm like, "Yay, only need a sweater day!"  What is up?  Ok, enuf of my ranting…

On yet another balmy 60 degree day, I pulled this little get up together.  I have a serious love affair going on with the Perfect Shirts from J Crew, so when I saw this one on super sale at the Factory store, I had to jump on it.  I built the outfit around the necklace that was a gift to me from me (I'm so generous) - and this shirt happened to match pretty well.  Couple those with my leopard flats and voila, an outfit was born.

Dress Code

Well folks, I finally did it.  I managed to wear head to toe hip Loft clothing.  I wore this to work last Tuesday, trying to psych myself up to get back into the swing of things.  Even though I work for a denim company, sometimes I just like to "dress up".  I remember the days at other companies when the dress code was strictly professional - and I hated it.  But now that my work dress code is rather loose, I find myself missing being all fancy-shmancy from 8-5.  So thank you, Miss Ann Taylor, for your little sister Miss Loft.  Without your assortment and wicked sales, I would be dressing like I was going on a picnic everyday.

Rainy Days & Mondays

That old song is really true.  Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.  And this outfit really reflects that.  I wore this just before Christmas, on a rainy day.  I've mentioned before that I choose my outfits for work on the weekends and watch the weather about a million times during that process.  And this is a perfect example of what happens when I do that.  I pre-program my mood to match my clothes and the weather.  So, on a cold, wet uninspiring day I wore a warm, comfy uninspiring outfit.  And you know what?  I'm Ok with that.  I know it wasn't my finest hour, and yes, my hair was still jacked up, but the combination of some of my favorite pieces felt like a nice hug.  And c'mon, who doesn't like hugs?

And the icing on the cake?  These shoes were thrifted - brand new for $5!  Take that!

'Do or Don't?

I'm going to make this one short and sweet-ish.  After getting my hair trimmed a few weeks ago, I got bored with the straight look and tried a curly 'do.  In the words of my girl JD, Epic Failure.  And the sad part is that I didn't realize how ridiculous I looked until I saw these pics!  Ugh.  But since I was brave enough to do this to myself, and I went to a co-worker's Christmas par-tay like this, I'm going to be brave enough to post it.  Trust me, I've already laughed and picked out the Dos and Don'ts of these pics.  So BBs (Blogger Buddies), you don't have to trouble yourself with picking it apart, I've done the honors for you.

Christmas Spirit

These are a few random pics that we managed to get on Christmas day. Have you ever gotten clothing for Christmas that you loved so much you had to put it on immediately?  If not, then please encourage your friends and family to buy this sweater for you.  Talk about another Christmas miracle!  As soon as I opened the box, I knew I had to wear it. It is soo soft and warm and comfy.  And it feeds right into my stripe addiction.   The BF and I had just finished eating dinner with my parents when I remembered that I needed to take pictures.  Thankfully the stripes are hiding my food baby.

I Got tha Blues...

I finally got my ish stuff together, and am posting an outfit!  Yay!  This is what I wore to work yesterday, which was my first day back after vacation.  The head to toe blue tones really fell into place.  Plus, I definitely had the blues after being on vacation for nearly two weeks!  I have to admit, I totally stole this outfit idea from a mannequin at Loft.  Tuesday, the BF and I were hanging out for our last day of freedom and we wandered into a local Loft store.  He saw the mannequin and was sooo excited (cute right?).  He wanted me to have the exact outfit, but the only problem was neither of us was pulling out our wallet.  At that point, I decided to do my own take on the outfit with a new blazer I purchased at the Nautica outlet on vaca, a tank I scooped up at NY&Co that same day, my wide leg trouser jeans and my blue suede pumps.

These are the individual items that Miss Mannequin was rocking….
